Open Gym is a time for students and professionals to use the gym to train and practice their skills. Open gym is ONLY for practicing skills that you have learned previously, and is not a time for learning new skills. Students must be at a level that they can safely train by themselves, outside of a group guided setting. This is NOT A CLASS.

ADULT CIRCUS CLASSES


       Teen/Adult Juggling & Circus - ALL Levels

Friday 5:30 - 6:30PM - Mike Hirschbach

Juggling & Circus is an introduction for beginners and more experienced jugglers, from the basic 3 ball cascade to juggling 4 and 5 objects, club variations and rings. We explore passing variations and group patterns, explore take-aways, and also look at related manipulation skills like the diablo and flower sticks. If you've ever wanted to learn to juggle, or get better at it, this is the class for you!

DIABOLO - ALL LEVELS

Fridays 5:30PM - 6:30PM - MIKE HIRSCHBACH

The diabolo (or Chinese yo-yo) is a fast, fun and visual form of object manipulation. You'll learn the basic movements, and over time, more advanced techniques, 2 diabolos, and partner passing. Suitable for ages 10 to adult. Check out the teacher and student videos below!

Teen/Adult Circus - Tightwire & Balance - ALL Levels (ages 11+)

WEDNESDAY 5:15PM - 6:15PM - Annie jivalian

*NEW!* Tightwire & Balance is an exploration of balance on and with objects. We'll walk on the tightrope and tubes, learn to ride the unicycle, and balance on the rola bola, the walking ladder and the rolling globe. No experience is necessary, but if you already know how to walk, leap, run, jump and skip, you've already mastered many aspects of complex balance!

TEEN/ADULT CIRCUS - Unicycle - ALL LEVELS

Fridays 6:30PM - 7:30PM - Mike Hirschbach

Just like riding a bike.. except harder..

Geared for absolute beginners. If you already have experience with unicycle then we can always grab you a taller one!

 

Dis-Co-circus

(DISability-COmmunity Circus) - ALL Levels

tuesdays 4:30PM - 6:00PM

A general circus class created for students who identify as part of the Deaf, Blind, Mad, Neutrodivergent, Diasabled + communities.

Students will work with coaches on a variety of skills depending on what they are interested in. Juggling, Hula Hoop, Diabolo, Acrobatics, Partner Acrobatics, Aerial Silks, Aerial Hoop, and more.

All classes at Halifax Circus welcome anyone who identifies as being part of these communities and this is not the ONLY class available for you. This is just a class specifically available for typically excluded communities.

Prices are sliding scale - please contact us if price is a barrier.


YOUTH CIRCUS CLASSES


Young Circus 1 (6&7yrs)

wednesdays 4pm - 5pm - nika bub

This circus class for our youngest students focuses on developing gross motor skills, balancing on props, juggling, games, and imaginative play. It’s a great introduction to the excitement and pleasures of circus and an hour away from screens of all kinds!


          

Young Circus 2 (8-12)  

thursdays 4pm - 5PM - Mike Hirschbach

This circus class for young students develops balance skills on props and tightrope, begins training in acrobatics, and works on aerials every alternate week. Build confidence, body positive attitudes and a sense of curiosity and play before the trials of teenage years. Let Mike's infectious love of circus create a space to learn, grow and explore. This class can be taught in both French and English.


YOUTH/TEEN CIRCUS (12-17)  

SATURDAYS 1-2:30PM W/ MIKE HIRSCHBACH 

This circus class for young students develops balance skills on props and tightrope, begins training in acrobatics, and works on aerials every alternate week. Build confidence, body positive attitudes and a sense of curiosity and play before the trials of teenage years. Let Mike's infectious love of circus create a space to learn, grow and explore.
